Following the conference, representatives from the CODIAC steering committee and working groups summarised the CODIAC process, findings, and recommendations. These were published as a white paper in 2023.

    The white paper in brief

The Copenhagen Diabetes Consensus (CODIAC) 2021 white paper stresses the importance of including people with diabetes and their caregivers in the management, prevention, and study of diabetes.

It argues that when these individuals are involved, health outcomes improve and treatments become more effective. The white paper reviewed existing research and used methods like Group Concept Mapping to identify where current efforts fall short.

The authors found that although involving users is beneficial, better plans are needed to include user' views in diabetes projects. CODIAC aims to create practical steps and work together to better diabetes care and research.
